Leggy Eliza Tuwanga, 20 was crowned Miss Valentine Malawi 2013 at a glittering pageant in at Chez Ntemba, Blantyre on Sunday.
Eliza lit the moment with her beaming smile and elegancy as she outshone ten other contestants to win the 2013 Miss Valentine crown.
The HIV and Aids Management student at Malawi Polytechnic won after impressing the judges over three categories: Casual wear, office wear, dinner wear and traditional wear.
Although first princess Takondwa Kaminjolo and second princess Agape Chitsulo were impressive on stage, Tuwaga’s sheer confidence, perfect body-structure and superior height raised her grade in the eyes of judges and viewers.

Crowning Miss Valentine 2013
The new Valentine queen, whose inspiration is international model Tyra Banks, said her first task would be to advocate against early marriages and pre-marital sex to fellow young girls.
“As Miss Valentine, I would like to take part in the fight against early marriages.
“I would like to visit various schools and youth clubs to share the dangers of early mariages with the youth, especially girls,” said Tuwanga.
She draws her modelling inspiration from former Miss Malawi Elizabeth Pullu.
The judge’s panel comprised of journalist Rawjazz Siula, Lorato Chalimba of Red Rose Modelling Agency and also Malawi News Model of the Year 2010 first princess
. They described the competition as stiff despite Tuwanga scored more points than the rest.
“Eliza has got all it takes to become a model. And take it or leave it, she will be Miss Malawi
in the nearest future. She also did everything required during such a contest ;She wasn’t pretentious, but remained true and natural,” said Siula.
Chokani received a K50 000 shopping voucher from the uptown L. Devraj boutique and K25, 000 cash from Manager Maya.
Chez Maky’s Isabella’s Restaurant situated at Chez Ntemba premises also provided free food for the models.
The beauty contest was brightened by live performances from urban music of Dan Lu, Diktator, Pon G & Weapon, D’rhano and the Blast.
Organisers of the event, Tabwera Entertainment, said their aim was to unearth and develop raw talent at an early stage.
