Opposition Democratic Progresisve Party (DPP) spokesman Nicholous Dausi has downplayed the defection of the party’s secretary-general Wakuda Kamanga, to the ruling People’s Party (PP) saying itwill have little effect on the the party.
Dausi insisted the defections of DPP members were “normal and democratic” in a poltical season.
“The party has many capable people,” said Dausi, adding “we wish Wakuda Kamanga well.”
Dausi: Roller-coaster is not static
Dausi said DPP will continue to strengthen with other members.
“Political party is just like a roller coaster, people get in and get out but the roller coaster is not static,” he said.
He said Malawians should not rush to write-off DPP, saying The party was still a force to reckon with despite the turbulence it was facing.
“In politics everyday is like new year. Lets wait and see.” he said.
But PP vice president who is also the country’s second-in-command, Khumbo Kachali, described Kamanga’s joing PP as a big catch.
“I am immensely happy with the coming of Wakuda Kamanga,” said Kachali.
“Politically he is an asset and he is adding value to the PP,” said the VP.
