Joyce Tafatatha, a 14-year-old from Malawi, made the country proud on Friday when in the first action of the Malawi team in London Olympic games, she won the fourth heat with a decent time of 27.74s.
She won in the category of the women’s 50 metresswimming freestyle and despite not claiming any medal, she made Malawians proud.
According to Aquatic Union of Malawi (AUM) national coach Yona Walesi, Tafatatha’s achievement did not come as a surprise

Meanwhile, the Malawi High Commission has organised a reception in honour of Malawian Olympians.
The reception to be held Friday from 6pm will be held at Kwacha House, 70 Winnington Road, Hampstead, London. N2 0TX.
Malawi Minister of Sport, Enock Chakufwa Chihana, will also address Malawians at event.
Newly appointed Deputy High Commissioner John Tembo Jr will also address the patrons.
Organisers also said fashion designer Lilly Alfonso currently in the UK for the Africa Women Fashion Week show will be in attendance.
