Carlsberg Malawi Limited on Tuesday disclosed that Mighty Wanderers and Big Bullets have done enough to earn the brewers’ sponsorship and they will all be bankrolled to the tune of K15 million about $38, 000) each
CEO for Carlsberg Malawi Abel Chanje told a news conference at Protea Ryalls, Blantyre, that “after a thorough determination” they realised that b oth Wanderers and Bullets put up strong determination for the sponsorship.
“I want to remind you Carlsberg does not condone indiscipline…you could have done far far better. There was no much significance in terms of behaviour and performance for both teams,” Chanje said.
Carlsberg were last season funding both Bullets and Wanderers at the same tune of K15 million and said one that impresses in fair play, performance and discipline would get the final nod as the team to be picked for a long-term deal.
Both sides had some equal measure of blemishes and successes.
They, both, finished the season with a cup each (Standard Bank Cup for Wanderers and Presidential Cup for Bullets) while also sharing crowd trouble cases.
Supporters of the two teams were all smiles following the announcement of sponsorship news.
