Malawi government through Sports Ministry has given Flames coach Kinnah Phiri an ultimatum to perform and start yielding positive results or else face the chop.
Chihana disclosed on Thursday inside Capital Radio’s Straight Talk interview progrramme monitored by Nyasa Times.
But Chihana kept a tight lid on the period of time Kinnah is to deliver and to when the agreed and set target will come to an end.
“I havent led sentence by sentence (of the agreement) but I know he has been given a target,” said the Sports Minister adding that the ther detailed information ”can be answered by my technical guys”.

Kinnha has faced extremescrutiny over recent form of the Malawi Flames.

Commenting on the recent Flames poor perfomance which led to the team’s failure to take part to the continental African Cup of Nations finals to be staged in South Africa, Chihana said he is “not disappointed.”
He backed coach Kinnah Phiri who immediately after being elimated by Ghana on a 3-0 aggregate said Malawi is still building a new team.
“I am not disappointed; what I have seen is that we have got boys like Gabadinho Mhango and others Dave Banda those are young upcoming players, we need to build them,” Chihana said.
“These players need to grow together, have to play together so this is exactly what we are trying to do,” he added.
The minister attributed the Flames poor perfomance in most of the games due to lack of funding, poor preparations and planning.
Angry supporters bayed for coach’s blood at Civo Stadium on October 13 when the Flames lost to Ghana.
The fans chanted angry and abusive songs on Kinnah demanding his firing.
But the coach who signed a new two year contract has refused to resign.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda has disclosed that Kinnha will submit a report on the performance of the team, including the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations exit and the way forward on Saturday.
FAM executive committee is expected to meet on Saturday in Blantyre where, among other things, it will discuss Flames’ performance.
The meeting will be chaired by the association’s president, Walter Nyamilandu.
