Malawi Carlsberg party continues with mouthwatering ties

After the recent shock exit of giant teams from the K30 million Carlsberg Cup football competition, the party resumes this coming weekend with some mouthwatering fixtures appearing on the menu.

A total of eight matches in the round-of-sixteen are scheduled to take place at different venues starting from Saturday up to Sunday.

Topping the menu for Saturday are clashes involving Mighty Wanderers and Blue Eagles and Azam Tigers versus Moyale Barracks.

Wanderers and Blue Eagles meet at Balaka Stadium, two weeks after the sides clashed in a TNM Super League tie, which ended 1-0 in favour of the cops from Area 30.

Tigers and Moyale will sort it out at Kalulu Stadium in Nchalo, where Tigers floored defending TNM Super League champions Silver Strikers last Saturday.

As the four giants lock horns, Kabwafu FC and White Eagles will be battling for a quarterfinal berth at Mzuzu Stadium with Envirom and Mzuni sorting each other out at BAT Ground.

On Sunday, there will be a big one involving Red Lions and Silver Strikers at the lions’ den- Zomba Community Centre Ground.

Civo and Epac will come face to face at Silver Stadium with giant killers Super Eagles from Chibavi in Mzuzu dating Blue Eagles Reserves at Nankhaka Ground.

Super Eagles were responsible for the exit of giants Big Bullets after beating the ‘People’s team’ 2-1 at Mzuzu Stadium.

Karonga Vendors, who eliminated another giant Blantyre United host Escom United at Mzuzu Stadium.

Meanwhile, Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has appealed to supporters to desist from violence during the games. The call comes in the wake of reports that Bullets fans perpetrated violence in Mzuzu after the loss against Super Eagles.
