Neurologist George Nga Ntafu, who dumped the former ruling United Democratic Front (UDF) has snubbed the offer to join the New Labour Party (NLP) and joined the ruling People’s Party (PP) instead.
NLP is led by former UDF members Friday Jumbe, Sam Mpasu and Joseph Kubwalo.
The invited Ntafu to join their party, but he has snubbed them opting to join PP. Jumbe’s party is said to be a party working for PP as well.
According to PP general secretary Henry Chibwana, Ntafu’s presence at the party’s functions is “revealing” that he has joined it.

Ntafu himself confirmed that he could not the Jumbe party.
While in UDF, Ntafu and Jumbe were in different factions.
Ntafu led a faction which propelled Atupele Muluzi as the presidential candidate in 2014.
He at one point overthrew Jumbe as UDF acting leader, a move that was declared a “failed coup d’état”.
Jumbe’s faction then also elected former Vice-President Cassim Chilumpha as its national chairman. But the reticent law scholar, who is currently parliamentarian for the central district of Nkhota Kota, dumped UDF and joined PP where he was duly elected at the convention as its vice president.
Political commentators argue that Ntafu’s political career was soiled after his brief exclamation in Parliament: ‘Agalu inu!” (when he asking his colleagues, whom he labelled as dogs, to lend him an ear in a heated argument).
