Opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has hit back at ruling People’s Party (PP) leaders Cassim Chilumpha and Uladi Mussa for their disparaging remarks on the party leader Peter Mutharika, saying the two do not qualify to talk about morality and normality.

Reacting to Mussa’s remarks at a rally on Sunday that Peter Mutharika is not fit to rule Malawi among other things because he is not married, DPP spokesman Nicholous Dausi said the failures of PP government were now haunting him.

Dausi said PP leaders were confused and jumping like grasshoppers because they have no programme for developing Malawi.

He said it is unfortunate that PP leadership has decided to sink low to engage in verbal attacks of opposition leadership.

Dausi said Uladi does not qualify to talk about morality, saying “he speaks and then thinks later.”

He said PP leaders want to divert people’s attention from their failure to rule Malawi to the exchange of words, saying their leadership was “hallucinating.”

Mussa also took a swipe at United Democratic Front (UDF) presidential candidate Atupele Muluzi referring to him as a baby who is not mature to govern Malawi.

UDF spokesperson Ken Ndanga speaking to Joy Radio described the conduct as primitive politics with no room in modern Malawi.
